10 Of My Favorite Knightmare Frames From Code Geass

One of the best parts about Code Geass is the mechs also known as Knightmare Frames. They start out as cookie cutters and gradually change into unique models that have their own abilities.

Everyone has a list of their favorite Knightmares so I am going to share mine in this article. With that in mind let’s dive into my favorite Knightmare Frames from the entire Code Geass Universe.

The Sutherland is one of the first Knightmare Frames introduced they are the improved versions of the Glasgows the first mass-produced Knightmare Frames.

What I enjoy about this Knightmare is the iconic look of them.

There are so many awesome scenes in the Code Geass that I remember that involved them.

For example, you have that scene where Lelouch has them line up with their spears.

It’s on this list for the iconic look and how they have continued to involve through the series.

While not the best version of the Burai it is the most famous outside of the Burai Kai famously used in the Battle of Narita.

I love the way they distinguish it from the other Burais by adding a light brown to the mid-section and make the head red.

The horns add a nice touch and will be a trend that many of the Knightmares will use in the future.

It has a special place in my heart for all the times that Lelouch trashes it when he gets owned by Suzaku in the Lancelot (which happens a lot)

Plus, I love how CC pilots it in R2 episode 1 when rescuing Lelouch.

Despite it getting replaced by the Shinkiro and Gawain it will never be forgotten as the first personal Knightmare Frame used by Zero.

The questionable animation style used in Code Geass Akito The Exiled does not affect my opinion on this Knightmare Frame.

This Knightmare Frame is very unique in that it can switch from two to four legs allowing to cover more grown at a faster rate. It runs and has the appearance of a centaur in Greek mythology. This configuration allows the Knightmare Frame to run up walls and other difficult terrains.

It has a really cool golden color scheme and is probably one of the fastest Knightmares on land. The weapons are also unique as it carries a giant ax with Geass. But the cool part comes later when Shen loses this main weapon and pulls out an awesome beam sword.

I love in general how some of the Knightmare Frames are based on mythology. I am curious about what it could have looked like if the creators had stuck to the animation style used in R1 and R2.

Regardless this is such a cool idea for a Knightmare and was one of the reasons why I sat through the OVA.

The Vincent is the Knightmare piloted by Rolo the pretend brother of Lelouch.

It has an awesome color scheme combination gold and red with blue lights for the eyes.

It shares a similar resemblance to the Shinkiro with having shoulders that are long and in a V-shape.

But the best part has to be the weapons. It has two swords shaped like spears that the user can combine to form into a lance.

I love the movements the Vincent can with the lance. We see this in the R2 episode 2 and R2 episode 14.

It might not have the flashiest features when compared to other seventh-generation Knightmares but it’s cool design and weapons set it apart.

This Knightmare is new and was introduced in the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection.

What I love about is how it looks like the legendary Spartan hero Leonidas I who is known for fighting the Persian army with just 300 Spartans.

I love how the flight system is not obvious as the six-generation Knightmares and even the seventh.

Once interesting about this Knightmare is that it does not have any advanced weapons like the Hadron Cannon or uses Radiant Wave Technology

Instead, it’s very fast and uses a combination of melee and long-range attacks. This is appropriate considering it looks like a Spartan warrior so it should fight like one as well.

I was not a big fan of the pilot but the Knightmare itself is awesome and the best one introduced in the film

Choosing between the Shinkiro and the Gawain was really hard since I love both of them. But the reason why I chose the Shinkiro was how it improved on the Gawain’s designs.

This is especially true with the new shield system and its Hadron cannons which are now fired from the wrists.

The shield system is impressive as it is stated to best of any Knightmare and comes in handy many times in the series.

Much like the Triston, it has fortress mode where the Knightmare can transform into a flying vehicle.

But my favorite aspect of this Knightmare is its presence. It is gigantic and has an impressive arsenal of weapons.

Given how complex the Knightmare is to pilot it was the perfect option for Lelouch.

Cornelia’s Gloucester is one of the most recognizable Knightmare Frames after the Guren and Lancelot.

What makes it unique when compared to the other Gloucesters is the head which has elf-like ears attached.

I am not sure what the tactical advantage of this is but it’s very cool to look at it. Beyond that, it has the standard abilities of a fifth-generation Knightmare.

What always impressed me about this model is that Cornelia could effectively combat Knightmare frames two generations higher.

It is a testament to her skill and the suburb design of the Knightmare.

There are also so many memorable moments with this Knightmare. My favorite being the time that Cornelia nearly defeats Lelouch in the Gawain.

It’s definitely one of the most iconic of the series and worth to be on the list.

The Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. is the complete package from its color scheme to the advanced weaponry.

It is incredible to see how far the Guren has developed from the beginning until now.

Originally the arm had to grab an opposing Knightmare to use Radiant Wave Technology. Then it was able to fire the Wave as a beam. And finally, now the arm can detach and hit multiple targets and fire a beam.

The Knightmare is an absolute monster on the battlefield.

While Rakshata may not approve I love the wing system used in this nightmare it matches the color scheme perfectly.

It also helps distinguish it from the modern float systems used in Knightmares like the Zengetsu.

My favorite parts with this Knightmare are the scene when Kallen saves Lelouch with it and the final battle between Kallen and Suzaku.

The Tristan Divider is an improved version of the Tristan designed to help it stand a chance against the Lancelot Albion.

What makes this Knightmare Frame rank so high is the design alone. The head alone looks like a call back to older mech designs like the ones in Dai-Guard, Space Warriors Baldios, and Voltes Five.

Also, the Triston Divider has an awesome breathing sound that we hear that immediately reminds me of Darth Vader. We first hear the sound when the head of the Knightmare Frame is in full view.

This Knightmare has a nice slim design which is one of the reasons why it moves so fast. Its main weapons are two Mass Vibration Swords like the ones used by the Lancelot. It also can go into fortress mode like the Shinkiro and even fights the Lancelot while in the mode even if it was briefly.

Despite not having any fancy features it’s the design and combat ability set it apart from most of the Knightmare Frames in Code Geass.

In case it was not obvious I tend to like the hand to hand based Knightmare Frames that focus on long-range weapons.

Of course, you have the Guren which combines both.

But for me, Zangetsu has always been my favorite. I was a fan of this design since Tohdoh’s Gekka.

I am glad they kept the same design and just added to it.

Zangetsu has a very unique look with the long hair at the back. The designers did a great job of making it look like samurai armor in modern times.

Even though it was based on the Guren it only uses the Radiant Wave Technology as a shield instead of a weapon.

It has mounted machine guns but the main weapon is Zangetsu’s sword which is impressive in both its size and power.

On a personal level, Zangetsu is the name of Ichigo’s Zanpakuto and anything that reminds me of Bleach already makes it to a top list.

But Zangetsu wins me over with its simple design, cool weapons, and awesome pilot and it number 1 on my ten favorite Knightmare Frame list.

You are probably wondering why the Lancelot was not on the list. The reason is simple it’s cool but not my favorite.
