Here are 20 Interesting Facts about C.C. That CBR Surprisingly Missed

CBR is a large company the produces many articles every day on topics relating to comics and other geek stuff.

Naturally due to the size of this company I see their articles shared on various feeds on social media.

My dislike of CBR grows the more I read their articles. My usual reaction after reading their articles is not “wow what a well-thought-out article” instead it’s more of “well that was waste of time”.

While this is a topic to itself the main issue is that they rush out articles that are not written in the reader’s best interest.

Recently I read an article titled “Ten Facts About C.C.” which invoked a very strong negative response. (for one thing, there are only nine items on the list)

So, in response, I am presenting you with 20 interesting facts about C.C. that CBR “missed”.

Now not everything listed is vital information rather interesting things that I have observed some of which required leg work to figure out.

Unlike CBR some of the ideas here are not things you can just look up on a wiki site or something similar.

Also unlike CBR, I am not going to claim that these are things that you don’t know because if you paid attention during the series then most of these are obvious.

Rather this list will reward for being a hardcore fan.

Two major disclaimers before this list starts:

1. There will be spoilers for all Code Geass that includes the alternative universe films, the original series, and Akito the Exiled.
2. The list is in no particular order.

I am of course referring to the original series with this statement.

In the first episode of R1 if you watch carefully you can see C.C.’s face for a second. Watching that scene long enough you see C.C. watching both Suzaku and Lelouch climbing up the hill.

Contrast this with R2 where you get a full scene of C.C. on a cart ending the series with a cryptic monologue. She also is the first character we see in R2.

It’s unknown exactly why this is the case but I found it to be very interesting.

It could symbolic in that C.C. is the only reason why the story happens so it makes for her to start and the series. This is of course speculation and I love to hear other fan theories on this one.

This is something that I missed twice in watching the film. I only figured out through looking at C.C.’s wiki page. It states by relatives that Lelouch is her husband.

Then it dawned on me that the last scene of the film shows them getting married. Which would explain they are wearing such formal attire.

This is an interesting development and something that I am glad happened in the story.

Because it is in an alternative universe it does make fans ships from the original series invalid.

It reminds of the fate series where different versions of the same story have different romances.

This is very important because it explains C.C. knowledge of Geass in the series.

It also gives some context to Charles and Marion’s plan since C.C. was working with them many years ago.

Lelouch takes advantage of this when trying the find out the location of the Order.

But the biggest of this is in R2 Episode 14 where Lelouch takes a unit in secret to wipe out the order.

C.C. had to make a choice between the Order or Lelouch. She obviously chose Lelouch by participating in the massacre.

It’s obvious that is bothers her greatly during this whole mission.

But no place is this more obvious than in the last scene. C.C. apologizes to her former subordinates before killing them.

The whole episode is hard to watch and this piece helps give it so much context.

I am not talking about the idea the story would not be complete without the character.

Rather literally there would not be an R2 without her.

Remember in the first season C.C.’s escapes thanks to the help of terrorists unbeknownst to them.

We now know that Charles needed C.C. for his plans. This is why Charles does not kill Lelouch rather just alter his memories.

They need to lure out C.C. and Lelouch was just the bate. So, technically without C.C. Lelouch would have died.

For a small period of time C.C. was the most important character in the series which is my takeaway from this fact.

You can also argue that there would be no season one as well for the exact same reason.

C.C has stated several times in the series that no one had yet to fulfill the contract that comes with the Geass.

Both Marion and Mao were not able to fulfill this contract and many others that we learn about through other stories in the Code Geass universe.

But C.C. was confident that Lelouch was the one. She explains this in episode 15 of R2.

Once we learn this it clears up the scene in the first episode of R1 where some kind of vision draws Lelouch to the crashed truck.

We now can infer that the C.C. was sending that vision to Lelouch.

C.C. even states before the soldiers attempt to kill Lelouch that “He must not die”.

So when you put these all together it’s clear that C.C. chose Lelouch and much like my previous point is vital to the story.

Leila in Akito the Exiled has an interesting Geass both in its color and function.

I am not going to discuss how it works in this article but I will at some point in the future.

What is important to note here is that C.C. gave Leila her Geass.

We learn this in flashback whereas a young child she meets C.C. in a forest.

C.C. states that she will give her a Geass but also that Leila has until adulthood to decided to accept the contract.

This fact is interesting since the Geass that Leila has saves everyone at the end of the Akito the Exiled.

It also gives us more information about C.C. particularly her history.

But obviously more show than tell but still adding to the character’s backstory.

This does not apply to Lelouch of the Re;surrection where Shirley helps retrieve Leloch’s body for C.C.

Which means C.C. obviously interacted with Shirley at some point before the events of that film.

But I am referring to the original series. In which Shirley and C.C. never interact with each other.

They were very close in R1 episode 14 but it never happens.

Of all of the romance partners for Lelouch, C.C. is the only one to not interact with Shirley (I don’t count Lady Kaguya).

There is nothing plot significant here but I have always wondered what interactions they could have had.

I am sure you feel the same way.

If you search up Code Geass on google you will find plenty of questions about what happens at the end of R2.

One of the reasons is the last scene where C.C. is talking out loud to either herself or someone else and ends by “Right Lelouch”.

Because C.C. is able to speak to Marion telepathically, fans speculated she might have been the same with Lelouch.

This statement also sparked theories about Lelouch taking Charles’s code and that he is not dead.

Older fans like myself remember how much where or not Lelouch dies at the end split the fan base.

This is one of the reasons why we eventually got a sequel so these questions could be answered.

Now we know from the author and a picture drama that Lelouch did in fact die at the end of R2.

But we did not know that at the time which is what that moment so special.

Despite knowing what happened to Lelouch I still people speculating on that scene.

None of this would have happened without C.C.’s comments at the end.

This might be one of the most obvious but less talked about facts on C.C.

C.C. likes to travel in style and is known for having so many different outfits.

How many?

Well, I went through the series and I counted over 16 different outfits.

Also, she has 5 different hairstyles to go along with those outfits.

I am not going to list them all here rather just my favorite ones.

1. The outfit she wears at the end of R1 and the start of R2.
2. Her Black Knight outfit
3. Her School Uniform outfit
4. The outfit she wore when she confronts Mao in the amusement park.

For hairstyles, I prefer the long hair that she has when wearing Zero’s suit.

Also in the comments let me know what is your favorite outfit/ hairstyle that C.C. has in the series.

Is this fact about C.C. important from a plot point of view?
No.

But I thought it was interesting enough to share.

C.C.’s ability to pilot Knightmare Frames is nothing to ignore.
What makes her stand out among other great pilots is the diversity and quantity of the Knightmare Frames.

C.C pilots four different Knightmare Frames in the series which is around the same number as Suzaku, Kallen, and Tohdoh. But Kallen, Suzaku, and to some extent Tohdoh pilot the same Knightmare just different variants.

C.C. pilots four different Knightmares altogether these include:

1. Burai
2. Gekka
3. Gawain
4. And the Lancelot Frontier.

What makes this even more incredible is how some of these Knighmares are difficult to pilot.

For example, Suzaku only piloting the Lancelot because he scored the highest on the simulator.

I believe that no one else was capable of piloting the Lancelot hence why there was only one Lancelot out in the field until C.C’s Frontier. You could do the say the same about the other Knightmares as well.

Her abilities go beyond being able to pilot different types of Knightmares but she also is a fast learner. In R1 Stage 19 Tamaki demands the C.C. learn how to pilot a Knightmare Frame. by R1 Stage 20 C.C. is seen driving the Gaiwan. So within a span of one episode, C.C. is shown piloting an advanced Knightmare Frame.

So taking these points into consideration we learn that C.C.’s has many skills and piloting Knightmare Frames is one of her best.

This is now the third time that I am mentioning how important C.C.’s is to the plot of Code Geass.

But here is another aspect to it. We know that C.C. saved Lelouch’s life at the beginning of both R1 and R1.

But there other times where C.C. saves Lelouch.

I counted over six times in the series.

1. She saves Lelouch from Cornelia before he has to reveal himself
2. C.C. causes Mao trolly to go down before he grabs a shotgun to shoot both Shirley and Lelouch.
3. She prevented Kallen from killing Lelouch towards the end of R2
4. Before Suzaku could bring Lelouch in C.C. feed Suzaku with his own memories to stop him.
5. Jeremiah was not able to stop Lelouch because C.C. sacrifices herself to stop him.
6. She prevented the soldiers from killing Lelouch by getting in the way of the bullet.
7. C.C. gave back Lelouch his memories in order to save him from even more soldiers.

Now some of these you could argue that Lelouch’s life was not directly saved.

But, if C.C. had not jumped in Lelouch probably would have been in a comparable situation.

For me, I especially like this one because it demonstrates that C.C. was serious about being with him to the very end.

C.C. is an important character in the series but is not present in six episodes.

Before looking ahead at the list try and see if you can remember any of them.

Give up here there are:

1. R2 Episode 13
2. R2 Episode 12
3. R2 episode 18
4. R1 Episode 2
5. R1 Episode 3
6. R1 Episode 4

Kallen by comparison does not appear in:

1. R2 Episode 13
2. R1 Episode 15

And finally, Suzaku is in every episode except for R2 episode 4.

I thought this was an interesting piece of information that few would ever think about.

It is important to note that both Kallen and C.C. do not appear in R2 episode 13 which is the same episode that Shirley dies in.

Coincidence? I think not.

Technically CBR’s article does mention this but it’s incomplete. It only touches on how C.C. can ” She Can Transfer Memories”.

C.C. also has the ability to save memories. We learn this from the second film in the alternative film universe.

This is one of the reasons why C.C. kissed Lelouch at the end of R1.

It was the only way she could save him and restore his memory

Beyond that, she is also able to seal her own memories away. She did this in R2 episode 15 to protect Lelouch.

What CBR’s said was not inaccurate but I thought I would add the missing details.

Few characters in Code Geass every outsmarts Lelouch. If I asked you to count how many have that number would be minimal.

Which is what makes this one interesting. If you watch enough of Code Geass then you are most likely aware of the banter between C.C. and Lelouch.

What’s impressive to me is that these two have intelligent conversations on every topic you can imagine.

C.C. even manages to win some of the arguments and get under Lelouch’s skin.

This is due to how long C.C. has “lived” for. She has accumulated so much knowledge and it gives her perspective on things that Lelouch lacks.

C.C. intelligence is also something that makes Lelouch love her more than the other women that are attracted to him.

Throughout the series, C.C. has stated that she will be with Lelouch until the very end.

She proves this with her actions against the Geass order and several other actions as well.

But the greatest testament to this was her actions in the film Lelouch of the Re;surrection.

Lelouch at the beginning of the film is mindless and displays behaviors seen in people who are mentally handicapped.

Everyone has their limits on what they can handle. But C.C. is good on her word and she takes care of him.

She tells Kallen about her vow and no matter what state he is in, C.C. will always be with him.

It’s one of the strongest bonds in the entire series.

C.C. states in R1 episode 1 that Lelouch had to fulfill a contract but never stated what it was.

She never tells Lelouch about it even after they meet up again in episode 5.

C.C. remains cryptic on the terms of the contract until episode 15. All we know until then is that no one else has ever fulfilled the terms of the contract.

We learn in episode 15 that her request is simple… death. She wants to die.

Why?

Because she is immortal and has not really lived.

she believed that without death all she was doing was accumulating experiences.

Lelouch is able to convince her that this was not the case and in reality, she wished for something else entirely.

This one is always an interesting one for sure. Because if you think about it what would an immortal witch actually want?

So the reveal was very interesting and made sense after experiencing C.C.’s through the eyes of Lelouch.

C.C. has excellent combat skills both hand to hand and piloting Kightmare Frames.

Yet you would be hard-pressed to find many instances of C.C. actually killing someone in the series.

The only events I could find was in R1 episode 16 and R2 episode 14.

In episode 16 she kills Mao someone that she offered a contract to many years ago.

She kills her former allies in the Geass Order in episode 14 before they have a chance to escape.

I am not sure what the significance is if there is any but I have on theory.

So, C.C. states that killing her former allies was for “a sin for having neglecting you”.

You could argue this was the same reason she killed Mao. It really brings home the idea of the consequences of Geass.

I also get the idea that C.C. is not completely comfortable with taking someone’s life even when she has to.

Perhaps there are moments of character growth again this could be absolute nonsense.
