Genesis Re; Code. How to play it outside of Japan and 10 Other Things You Need to Know.

The next release in the Code Geass Ten Year plan is here in Genesis Re; Code; Code Geass’s Mobile Game. I am sure just like many other fans you probably have questions about the game. That’s where this article comes in. I will go over ten things you need to know about this game.

Disclaimers this article will contain spoilers for Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion and Lelouch of the Re;surrection.

Time has stopped in this world; this event is called the collective unconsciousness.

The source is the last moon which sends creatures wearing the C’s World masks as attack dogs.

Our only hope comes from Al a boy with a mysterious past. He’s aided by Gigi an immortal who raised him at birth.

She gives a Geass power called Phase Transition Geass allowing Al to travel and observe other timelines and universes in Code Geass.

This is where his name the observer comes from. Al needs to collect Geass fragments from time and space.

To accomplish this he seeks help from the different characters from each Code Geass story.

I am curious to learn

• What’s the Collective Consciousness role in this?
• What universe this game takes place in since Al recruits characters from different universes?
• What caused the collective unconsciousness?

I am leaning towards what happened to Shamna at the end of Lelouch of Re;surrection.

We’ll have to play the game to know for sure.

Arguably the most important part of this game. Genesis Re; Code Geass features characters from every Code Geass story. According to the recent announcement, this game will have 1 million characters.

I speculate that characters from Z of the Recapture will be in this game.

Observation Mode is a story mode of the game. This is where you get to experience all the stories in Code Geass including the new ones created for the game.

During observation mode, you travel along a path that contains either a Story Battle RPG or a story section. The story section is a series of images from a part of whatever story in Code Geass you are going through.

You have to travel across this path linearly unlocking each spot as you go.

Much like other anime games, it will have a character narrating the scene.

Currently, the majority of the stories are not unlocked so at this point only Lelouch of the rebellion, Crimson of the Blood Pact, and Genesis Re; Code are ready. Technically only Crimson is 100% complete.

Line Edition is the main story of the Game also labeled as Genesis Re; Code. It follows the main conflict of the story involving Al and Gigi.

The format is the same as observation mode. From every announcement, the big gimmick behind this mode is the interactions between all of the characters.

This will be fun with the characters from the different timelines and universes. I am hoping it will be as entertaining as Jojo Eye’s of Heaven.

In the story we will learn:

Why does Al have no memory?

Who is the mysterious girl Gigi?

And what is the existence of the archive?

During the story mode, you will collect Geass pieces that will help to destroy the Last Moon. So far the story only seems to revolve around Gigi, Al and the Archive.

In addition to the main story of Genesis Re; Code there are also holiday events that occur in the game with the most recent being halloween.

Abyss mode is a strategy game where you lead your forces against the enemy forces. You do this on different maps that can be purchased using BP from the bp meter.

You command avatars to fight the opposite avatars. The main form of gameplay is moving your avatars across the battlefield and commanding them to fight the opposing forces.

You can unlock more motherships throughout the game and other cosmetic unlockables.

Motherships can launch up to four units at a time since that’s the current cap. Each unit consists of five team members much like RPG story battle.

Besides simple elimination there are other objectives in the game:

1. Survival
2. Eliminate a specific target
3. Take out a certain numbers within a time frame without losing one of your motherships ( the game gives you AI team mates)

The main gameplay during Observation and Line Mode Edition is RPG Story Battle. It combines elements of turn-based and real-time strategy.

The gameplay mimics Princess Connect in the following ways:

• The characters appear as Chibis
• You can only select up to five characters at one time

Characters are organized by rank with go from 1 – 4 with 4 being the highest. In addition, characters have one of the following chess types: pawn, rook, bishop, rook, queen, and king. The types function like rock paper scissors. There are four types of characters attackers, defenders, supporters and intelligence. A good team needs to consist of all four to win in battles. One element to do this is to place your supportive characters in the back row and your attackers/ defenders in the front row.

Characters can use skills, special moves, and “Geass” abilities during the battle. Currently, C’s world monsters, Britannian soldiers, evil versions of the characters in the game, and ancient Chinese soldiers were shown as enemies but I am sure there will be even more enemies.

You can use items called Code Links to enhance your characters during battle which you can get through abyss mode, RPG story battle, or by purchasing them. To level up your characters you will need energy and experience tablets that you receive through the same means as the code links.

After each battle, each character’s intimacy improves doing this unlocks an array of cosmetic and useful items including rainbow tickets which can help you summon characters.

Also not directly related to RPG Story Battle but it’s worth mentioning C’s world. This is the hub of the game where you can level up buildings to help your efforts in Abyss Mode and RPG Story battle. If your characters reach level 9 intimacy you may even see them there.

Combat is a mixed bag on one end the special moves and the numerous characters are awesome. I am concerned that the game could become a grind fest for both experience and unlocking characters.

The game has been released on October forth as planned. It’s available for both IOS and Android and only for Japan.

I hope someday it will be released worldwide.

QooApp currently doesn’t support Genesis Re; Code. Your best bet is to get with a VPN.

Here are the steps to get Genesis Re; Code.
I got it working on BlueStacks which is probably the best way to play this game.

1. First, create a Google Japan account. It is a brand new account that is not tied to anything in the world. So don’t add a phone number to the account.
2. Remove your other google accounts from the play store. A fresh download of Blue Stacks makes this easy since it doesn’t have any save accounts
3. Then download a VPN I used OpenVPN and Japan VPN for OpenVPN. If you want to go down this road make sure to download OpenVPN first and then Japan VPN
4. After downloading those apps delete the cache and data for the google play store
5. Then activate the Japan VPN, you then be able to access Japan’s Google Play store.
6. From the Google Play Store search for Genesis Re; Code and download it. If it gives any issues then you need to clear your cache or make sure the VPN is working.
7. After Genesis Re; Code finishes downloading start the app. It might crash a few times but eventually, you get a menu to select two items make sure to select the item on the right. This will download the game (it’s a long download).
8. Once it finishes you are good to go. You may want to use a translator app I recommend tap to translate
   It does have annoying ads but the translation is spot on.

Probably the best part of this game is the new animations. You have probably seen the videos showing the opening animations that are absolutely beautiful.

They did a phenomenal job not only with the new characters but even with the older characters. Considering how good these animations are I wish an OVA could have been made with it.

Besides the opening animations, there should be other parts in the game where we see these awesome transitions.

Besides the brand new animations, I really like the art style in this game. I am very excited to experience these animations throughout the gameplay.

Since there is no completed translation of Oz of the Reflection I am most excited about going through that story. And that of course leads to Observation mode.

We also will be able to go through the other excellent stories of well. I have some questions about the Manga Renya of Darkness. Maybe this game will answer those questions.

I am also excited to unlock and use all of the characters in this game. The Line Edition also interests me since it will contain fun interactions among the characters from all of the universes.

I am just really excited to start playing this game.
