Don’t Be Sad That It’s Over Be Happy That It Happened. K-On Season 2 Review

K-ON Season 2 is the second and concluding series. How does this season compare to the first and what should you expect? Read on to find out.

Introduction/ Brief Synopsis

After finishing K-ON Season 1 I was both very excited and kind of sad to start the second season. I knew going in that this is for this anime. There is a manga called K-ON! College which comes after but was never animated. I hope one day it will be.

Endings in good anime are never easy to get through but with K-ON it was different. Because the entire season was built on the premise that the light music club might get disbanded once the girls graduate high school.

And that’s the other part which is that four of the five members of the light music club are seniors. The entire story is just the five members plus their friends going through the senior year together.

Things like senior photos, senior field trips, career forms, plays, and all other kinds of great stuff. But as I mentioned the constant knowledge of graduation looms over everyone including you the viewer.

How does the senior year playout for the girls? You will have to give it a watch and you should.

My Analysis

K-ON Season 2 had a completely different effect on me. The story is still lighthearted and of course, the funny moments with the girls are here.

But the constant idea of graduation and moving on is always on the back of your mind when watching this show.

For every adorable scene, you get a more emotional one in which the girls comprehend their senior year. This is why this season was bittersweet for me.

There is a lot of great moments that we get with these characters including some fantastic scenes of character development.

This is one of the many reasons why I preferred this season over Season 1.

They do a great job of taking the past relationships formed and creating new scenarios for the girls to interact with each other.

We even see Yui’s sister Ui get devoted episodes where she hangs out with Jun and Azusa. I love these parts because we get more time with Azusa and Ui.

It also pays off because when the two groups hang out, it’s some of the best moments in the entire series.

Obviously, I am not going into many specifics as I do not want to spoil anything about this series. Thus, let me end with this, K-ON Season 2 will give everything you liked about the first and more.

It does a great job of wrapping the high school lives of these girls in a very emotional but light-hearted experience.

Be prepared to laugh and cry at this one.

FYI this is just my opinion on this but before you watch the last episode I would recommend that you first watch the movie and OVAs.

The reason is the OVAs and movie take place before the last episode. I was disappointed when the OVAs were not a continuation but rather another story that took place before the end.

But this is just my advice do what is best for you.
