Impressions

Code Geass Akito the Exiled is an OVA series that I originally never had any intention to watch. I was deterred that the story did not continue from R2 nor star Lelouch. But once I got over this I discovered a remarkable anime that surprised me. The Knightmare Frames combat was improved and they added new kinds. We are introduced to the characters of Leila and Akito who I enjoyed very much and would like to see again in future Code Geass anime.

The story was not always exciting and at certain points I was bored. But if you stay with it the series rewards with awesome action sequences and beautiful scenes. This anime contributes so much to the Code Geass universe. This is also an anime that requires your full attention I would not watch it while multitasking.

Who Should Watch Code Geass Akito the Exiled?

Only fans of Code Geass and only after you at least finish R1. If you have never seen Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion or watch the new alternative universe films then do not watch this.

It is also important to note if you plan on watching this anime dubbed that it has many English voice actors using a French accent. I personally had no issues understanding the accent but some have complained about it.

If you enjoyed the Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion and fell in love with its world definitely give this one a watch. Anyone who felt lukewarm after Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion may not like this OVA. But maybe you might still enjoy it.
