10 Facts About Kallen Kozuki That You Won’t Find on CBR

CBR strikes again this time in their Kallen Facts article. It is not the worse but it definitely is missing key things.

Also, most of the content is something that comes straight from the Wikia page.

Which is fine except why read the article when I could read the Wikia page myself.

This is another common complaint that I have on CBR.

So I have made a counter list now just like my C.C. list which you can read here.

For this list, I have ten interesting items on Kallen instead of 20 for C.C.’s facts article.

But do not worry some it’s quality over quantity. Much like my last list, not everything on there is something that you didn’t know.

If you followed the series you will have no doubt notice some of this.

Also, not everything is “fact” rather theories that I came up with based on my interpretation of the story.

This means that some of this is open to interruption and I would love to hear your thoughts on those items.

With that in mind, I hope you enjoy this article. Let’s begin with the 10 “facts” about Kallen

In R1 Stage 1 Kallen takes out a helicopter with a Glasgow Knightmare Frame painted with her signature colors.

Even though the epilogue introduced Knightmares this is our first time seeing in action during the story itself.

So it’s not a coincidence that Kallen would be the pilot and get the first kill.

After all, she is the ace of the Black Knights and would go on later after this to engage in more battles in several Knightmares that she pilots.

It also the first nonflashback battle and again she is the first in that regard as well.

I always fascinated by how creators choose to make the first “insert event here” done by a specific character.

In this case, Kallen has the first kill, first Knightmare moment, and participated in the first battle.

You got three facts for the price of one what a bonus.

Originally I wanted to put how she saves Lelouch many times.

But after thinking about that only was possible due to Lelouch saving her.

Lelouch has saved Kallen many times but obviously, the amount is not even close to the many times she saved him.

Kallen is giving directions in R1 Stage 2 by Lelouch that not only save her life but also get the terrorist/ resistance group Sutherlands.

She along with the rest of the surviving members were about to be killed by Britannian forces.

Lelouch put a stop to this by threatening his half brother Clovis.

Beyond physical danger, Lelouch also saved Kallen from her depression by giving her something to live for.

Kallen admitted in R2 Turn 22 that had not been for him, she would have killed herself.

I love this fact because it shows how much Lelouch did for her. Plus had he not saved her then none of these would have happened.

It a sense this is kinda like how C.C. first helps Lelouch just in reverse.

You knew this already but it was worth bringing up.

No, I am not talking about her bust size or physical beauty rather her athleticism.

Kallen works out in the series. We never see it but there are obvious clues to this.

1. The weights in her house that are shown in R1 Stage 9
2. Her demonstration of flips that she does in both R2 Turn 1 and the Lelouch of the Re;surrection.

Kallen can take out most soldiers in hand to hand combat. However, she is no match again Suzaku who is an elite trained warrior.

Not that I think about do they ever explain where she learned to fight?

I love that Kallen is in great shape, but why is it not reflected in her design.

Kallen is too slender with no muscle definition. I have complained in the past that I wish there was more meat in the character designs.

Especially with Kallen given her physical strength. They gave Tohdoh muscles so why not Kallen.

When I wrote this fact I was going rank Kallen the number 2 Knightmare Frame Pilot just under Suzaku.

But watching her in action combined with the commentary on other top tier Knightmare Frame Pilots has changed my opinion.

Kallen has many accomplishments as a Knightmare Frame Pilot. She has defeated many tough opponents and has turned the tide so many times for the Black Knights.

There is a reason why she has the nicknames Q1 and the ace of the Black Knights.

Here are some more specific reasons why she is the best pilot.

1. Every major battle in the series turns in Lelouch’s favor because of Kallen
2. She was able to read and apply the manual for the new float system for the Guren mk2 in a short period of time. She also does this with the Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements and the Guren Type Special
3. Despite piloting weaker Knightmare Frames she has fought well against tough opponents including Jeremiah, Guilford, and Suzaku who were using Knightmare Frames at least one generation higher than her’s.
4. Many top tier Knightmare Frame pilots comment on how talented she is. Including Gino who mentions how it’s Kallen’s skill that defeats him in R2 Turn 6.
5. In the film Lelouch of the Re;surrection Kallen was able to successfully pilot a Zilkhistan’s Knightmare despite having no prior experience and with a limited vision

Obviously, no list about Kallen would be complete without arguably the fan’s favorite/ most disliked thing the fan service.

I personally can’t as it gets distracted and takes away from her excellent character.

The first main form of the fan service is Kallen’s design. As I already mentioned she is very slender but has a large bust size.

I could not find the site but there is a ranking on bust sizes in Code Geass and she in the top five for sure.

Now having a big bust is fine and many great anime characters have this but then there the moments of fan service.

1. Kallen naked in the tub and Lelouch comments on it R1 stage 3
2. She wears an extremely revealing and humiliating bunny outfit R2 turn 1
3. R1 Stage 9 features Kallen awakening from sleeping naked in her bed.
4. In R1 Stage 19, not only is Kallen naked on Kamine Island but from her encounter with Suzaku we see her bare breast nipples and all.
5. In R2 Turn 3 Before putting on her uniform, she runs out to discuss the bunny outfit with C.C. only wearing her bathing towel. She is almost completely unaware that anyone else is in the room.
6. Kallen wears another interesting outfit in R2 Turn 5 during the school festival to get C.C.
7. When Kallen is captured by Li Xingke, they put her on a slant with straps that just reaks of bad hentai. In the latest film, they do the same her probably as call back.
8. Between R2 Turn 11 to R2 Turn 18 Kallen is wearing a royal outfit which pops her bust out
9. While everyone who pilots a Knightmare frame based on the Guren Mk-2 does get a suggestive angle, Kallen gets the most and from every angle
10. In the picture dramas for R2 there is one where all the main girls are bathing together and Kallen’s get quite a “revealing moment” if you catch my drift

While I personally do not like the fan service it does not ruin the series for me.

But I am curious as to what your thoughts are on it.

This one is interesting and there two points to go over

1. The facts from the battle
2. Was it stagged?

The facts from the battle

After Kallen emerges victorious over defeating Suzaku. Gino states that Kallen had finally defeated him.

Now, this is not accurate. Remember in R2 Turn 18 Kallen had defeated Suzaku and was moments away from killing him.

In that fight, Kallen was definitely the better pilot and looked much strong. By Turn 25 it is not as obvious.
You could even argue that it might have been a draw.

Now, this outcome could have been staged, and here is how.

1. Suzaku had to die as a part of the Zero Requiem in order to become Zero.
2. The best way would probably be in combat.
3. Since Kallen has the skills and Knightmare Frame that can compete with him it makes sense that she would be the one to do it.
4. So, I think the fight was stagged and Suzaku was supposed to lose but doing so while looking like he wanted to win.

Only through Kallen could that have happened. Obviously, this is all speculation.

I will admit that this one comes from Kallen’s wiki page.

As someone who loves Yu-Gi-Oh! 5ds, I just had to include this one.

The obvious is connection is their design. Both characters have a similar body type, hair color, and hair design. Although Aki has a more pinkish hair color compared to Kallen

Both are capable characters in their respective series. Although Kallen does way more in the plot than Aki.

But Aki has her moments. For example, she was part of Team 5D in the tournament and defeated the dark signer Misty.

They also have romantic feelings towards the main protagonist.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds started airing in 2008 while Code Geass started airing in 2006.

So it appears that 5Ds might have taken influence from Code Geass. But we will never know for sure.

I had to do serious leg work for this one but it was worth it.

Now, this is for kills done with a Knightmare Frame so that removes Nina who killed more with the F.L.E.I.J.A.

That gets dicey as well because was it Nina, Lelouch, Suzaku, or Schneizel who gets credit for those kills anyways.

So to simplify stuff this is just the total of kills that came from Kallen while piloting her Knightmare Frame and committed on screen.

Obviously, I cannot account for was is not shown in the series

So, her total kill count is 305 units. I am not sure how many soldiers were in the helicopters that she destroyed in R2 Turn 10 and R1 Stage 1 so I counted each as one.

Now the 305 does take into account deaths caused by the landslide in R1 Stage 11 and from Lelouch of the Re;surrection.

From the rader in Stage 11, 83 units were killed at one time. By contrast on the radar in Lelouch of the Re;surrection has 77 units that Kallen destroyed in one shot.

If you do not count either one that then the most amount of kills at one time comes at R2 Turn 18 with 48 kills.

I am not sure why this interested me but it’s a cool fact and another example of her skills.

I took note of Kallen’s Win-Loss record against the best Knightmare Frame Pilots in Code Geass

Here is how to decide the outcome.

A win is when the opponent can no longer fight.

1. This can be due to dying,
2. Ejection
3. Or piloting a badly damaged Knightmare Frame

A loss is when Kallen has to eject, or her Knightmare gets so badly damaged that she cannot fight anymore.

A draw is when no conclusion comes from the battle.

Her final record is 10 wins, 5 losses, and 6 draws.

Her losses are:

• Two from to Suzaku,
• Rolo,
• Li Xingke,
• Bitur (Lelouch of the Re;surrection).

For her wins she has defeated:

• Jeremiah,
• Cornelia,
• C.C.,
• Gino,
• Anya,
• Guilford,
• Luciano,
• Bitur (Lelouch of the Re;surrection)
• And twice against Suzaku.

Her only draws are:

• Cornelia,
• Jeremiah,
• And four to Suzaku.

I find it interesting that Kallen and Suzaku have defeated each other the same number of times and if you add those together you get their number of draws.

It almost like the writers wanted them to be equal in every way including their one vs one record.

Now of all of the defeats only her two to Suzaku were “fair”. Li Xingke only won because Kallen’s Knightmare ran out of energy. She only lost to Rolo because of his Geass. Kallen could not see well while piloting a Zilkhistan Knightmare Frame and she was not too familiar with it. This is why she lost to Bitur.

Also, she has victories against four different knights of the round which is the same as Suzaku who has defeated Bismarck, Dorothea, Monica, and Gino.

I have stated before how Kallen is the best Knightmare Frame pilot. Hopefully, by now I have proven it.

Now, this is the only part of the article where I mention something that CBR did.

They are not technically wrong but they do not clarify exactly when Kallen feels this way.

You might get the wrong impression that Kallen always loved Lelouch.

This is simply false since her feeling for Lelouch change over time.

Due to the complex nature of this relationship I wrote this article that explorers Kallen’s feelings about Lelouch.

I am not going to cover the mistakes that the article makes here. But if you want to actually learn who Lelouch actually loved I got an article for you.

So, does Kallen love Lelouch yes but it took awhile to get there.

I know I said there was only going to be 10 but for sticking around to the end here is a bonus one for you.

Hey unlike CBR if I am going to lie to you about a list at least I am giving you more not less than what I promised.

In R1 Stage 6 Lelouch is hunting a cat that stole his Zero helmet. Milly gets suspicious of Lelouch’s behavior and mobilizes the whole school to catch that cat.

She even offers s a kiss from one of the members of the student council to the student who catches the cat.

Kallen mentioned that she does not want her to lose her first kiss this way.

I watched the entire series and never saw Kallen lock lips with anyone. Until episode R2 Turn 22 where she kisses Lelouch.

I never took much stock in the scene but it was a major moment for Kallen as she declared her love and gave up her first kiss to Lelouch.

Kallen was the last to kiss Lelouch,

• Shirley kissed him in R1 stage 12,
• C.C. R1 stage 25
• And Kallen R2 turn 22 it is interesting how they laid it out like that.
